YourHeart x American Red Cross

At YourHeart Sickle Cell Foundation, we partner with the American Red Cross to ensure adult Sickle Cell Warriors have access to the life-saving blood transfusions they need.

Why Transfusions Matter

  • Prevents Severe Complications: Transfusions deliver healthy red blood cells, reducing the risk of strokes, organ damage, and acute chest syndrome.

  • Relieves Chronic Pain: Increasing oxygen flow helps prevent and manage debilitating pain crises.

  • Requires Diverse Donors: Frequent transfusions require closely matched blood. Diverse donors—especially Black and African American donors—are essential for safe, compatible matches.
